“Laura” has begun to dread the sound of a ringing telephone. On the other end will likely be an angry teacher informing her that her autistic son has yet again destroyed the classroom and has thus been suspended from school. She will have to leave her job to pick him up, and she can only hope this won’t be the final straw that lands her on unemployment again. This part-time job is all the single mom can manage, since there is no one willing or equipped to take care of him after school. If she doesn’t figure something out soon, she will have to choose between daycare or rent.

True stories like this one were the inspiration that motivated a frustrated special education teacher to found Brighter Day Care (“BDC”). BDC is a specialized aftercare program tailored to meet the unique needs of children with special needs.
